Leo Joseph Tos, served country proudly

Leo Joseph Tos, 95, of Dover passed away at Bayhealth Medical Center Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, from COVID-19.

Leo was born March 14, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Cesare and Alessanorina Savoretto Tos. He graduated from Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Pa., in 1943. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy, Army, and then the Air Force, retiring with 22 years of service. He continued with his service to the country working for the United States Postal Service. He was active and served as president of the Dover Post Office Union, was a member of the American Legion, NCO Club, and Modern Maturity Center.

Leo married Margaret Shecora Tos, an Army nurse in 1948; they were married 67 years. Margaret passed away in 2015. Leo and Margaret enjoyed their family and zest for travel around the world.  

Leo is predeceased by his parents, wife, and brother Reno Tos.

Leo is survived by his two daughters, Jo Ann Baker (Paul), Mary Jeanne Smith (Robbie); grandchildren, Paul (Kahli) Baker, Robbie Smith and Katie Gillespie (Andrew); and great-grandchildren, Paul IV, Patrick, and Parker Baker.

A special thank you to all the staff at State Street Assisted Living where he resided the past few months, Bayhealth Medical Center-PCU staff, and the physicians from Dover Family Physicians. 

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Church in Dover Thursday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. In consideration of protecting family and friends’ health, guidelines enacted for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 will be strictly in place. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Leo J. Tos to the Education Foundation at Roman Catholic High School, 301 N Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19107, or your favorite charity.
